DAMN,THIS IS A TOUGH ONE.Paul is the man,as far as picking....I dunno,I think Jason Becker is about as gifted as any human being I've ever seen.Technically,he was(is)amazing, and he also played beutiful.I have to go with J.B. on this one.

Yeah i figured you guys would have a tough time with this one. I feel for ya, Paul is my nigga(escuse the phrase) but i just have to face the fact that there are more technical guitarists out there. but paul always plays the right notes(reguardless of wether its a million or 1)

I had to go with Rusty. Beyond him being a friend of mine...He kills. Rusty has some of the all time tendonidus licks I've ever seen.

I recorded myself playing a fairly fast lead one time and then sped it up to hear insanely fast guitar playing. Rusty Cooley plays like that on slow tempo songs. Rusty is sickenly accurate.

I keep hearing all this praise for Rusty.
Does he even have an album out? I mean I've heard maybe 3 songs on various compilations but where else is his playing coming from?

Tell me Rusty Cooley fans!

Check out www.chopsfromhell.com for some of rusty's stuff.

I'm new here btw. Hello!

My Vote goes to Shawn Lane. Only because he combines his frightening technique with some really original and melodic ideas.

Rusty Cooley may be talented, fast, and accurate. There alot of players who fit his category. But I'd rather hear him come up with a good song or play with feeling.Lets face it..the guys good... but theres more to playing than just shredding everywhere..I want to hear his songwriting skills, play the blues with a nasty vibrato or some easy going melody. It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock n roll....

I voted for Paul, but Jason was/is an unbelievable talent. The stuff he did on "Perspective" was unreal and shows what an incredible mind the man has. Another guy who was technically brilliant was the late Kevin Gilbert, whose album "Shaming of the True" is a true masterpiece. If you've never heard it, find it and give it a listen. You'll be floored at what a true composer can do.
