Post Live Aid DVD out soon- but no Led Zep
Hi,

I saw this in the newspaper yesterday, there is going to be a DVD of the event released later this year. Unfortunately Zep have refused permission for this.

As I understand it there are 2 possible reasons:
1. The performance sucked with Phil Collins on drums (I never saw it so I dont know if this is true)
2. Zep are being a pain in the ass as usual and refusing permission

Either way, it does suck. I couldnt find out if it will be just the London gig or it will include bits from Philadelphia (did Zep do philadelphia only? If they did I answered my own question).
As long as we get Queen I would never have watched Zep anyway.

I have this on DVD already, I taped it back in 85, all the new wave folks, judas priest, black sabbath, led zepplin etc...it's pretty cool..I recorded it off MTV at the time, which aired Wembley, then our local station carried the Philadelphia performers...but I would say, what was aired, that day I have say, 80-90% of the show, works for me though...LOL  I have like 4-5 DVD's total....

The Zeppelin performance wasn't that great anyway, from what I've seen of it. I'll definately be getting that Live Aid DVD though, I hope it's not too expensive.

I agree with you on their performance....I wasn't to sold on them having Phil Collins play drums on their set...

Page has stated he wasn't happy with the performance and blamed Phil Collins, who was jet lagged from flying across the Atlantic so he could play at both shows.

I suspect, however, that Page also doesn't want product out there that would compete with the Led Zeppelin DVD released not too long ago.

I saw the show back then....and my memory of it was...Phil sucked, and Plant's voice clearly was shot on the high parts.

Hi,

The reason the DVD is coming out is to combat the bootleg market. As you guys already mentioned, there are several out there.

Phil Collins (and a few others) flew to the US on Concorde after playing in the UK. Surely you can't be THAT jet lagged? I know its about time zones and not the length of the flight, but doesnt it only hit you later?

Perhaps its just that Phil Collins was nevera great drummer anyway!
