Post The three new MEGADETH tunes
Don't know if this was addressed yet, but I just grabbed the three new Megadeth tracks from iTunes.

The first one, "Die Dead Enough" is a bit of a departure for Dave...it's got a different groove than usual Megadeth. It's still metal, and Dave rips it up on the solo. Just a different groove. Heavy, with a long reverberated melody and chorus. Classic Mustaine lead tone. Sounds killer.

The next tune, "Blackmail The Universe" is very "Peace Sells"-esque. The old school double bass drums, and very politically driven like the Peace Sells era. Heaviest tune of the bunch, with cool hooks and twists, and a bitchin' chorus. Very "Marty Friedman"-ish solo.

The last tune, "Kick The Chair" sounds like it came right off Rust In Peace. Very percussive, machine-like ass kicking stacatto rhythm by Dave and Chris. Classic Megadeth...this is what makes jamming to Megadeth records so fucking impossible.

Great tracks. I suggest you go pay $.99 a track and grab 'em.

-Chad

Please don´t expect a RIP 2, because it´s DIFFERENT.

But it´s AWESOME!

Well, Ive heard the "Kick the Chair" version Dave put up, but not sure if it's any different than the CD version.

Mike seems finished with the cover. We saw what is the untweaked 'final' version. I liked the concept, but I didnt care a ton for the final product. Too many colors and too much yellow. Mixed mood. Not digging it too much, but it was a good job and nice to be involved in the process.

I happened to see the songs from the new album up on WinMX. The total time seems to be like 39 minutes, which really surprised me. Megadeth had gotten longer for a while there, and now they're going back down to short CDs.

It's more like 48 minutes.

I've downloaded all the songs from WinMX. I'll probably buy it when it comes out ... but, I was a little disappointed because I was hoping for a pure thrash metal CD, and it's not. While there are songs that sound like RIP and Peace Sells, a lot of it sounds more like Cryptic/Youthanasia era Megadeth to my ears. As I listen to it more, I'm starting like it more. But if you're hoping for a CD that even comes close to classic Megadeth, you will be disappointed.

My thoughts exactly Doc.

But it happens that the more I hear it, the more I like it.

Fav song: Something I´m not...it´s SO melodic...

And, BTW, the guitar work is AWESOME

Whatever happened to dave being permanently injured?

The new CD is The System Has Failed. Comes out September 14th.

Al isnt back because both Dave and he felt he wasn't right for Megadeth, plus he has a family and wants to spend more time with them. Jimmy isnt back because his girlfriend ripped into Dave on the phone, and Jimmy never apologized. I think that was around the time of the breakup.

The line up for the CD is:

Dave Mustaine: Vocals, Guitar
Chris Poland: Lead Guitar
Jimmie Sloas: Bass Guitar
Vinnie Colaiuta (sp?): Drums

The line up for touring is:

Dave Mustaine: Vocals, Guitar
Jimmie Sloas: Bass Guitar
Nick Menza: Drums

Dave hasn't said who the lead guitarist will be yet. There has been a lot of talk about Jeff Waters from Annihilator joining. They're supposedly in talks at the moment.

And Dave's injury was supposedly permanent. The doctors said at best he'd get 80% use of his hand again, and never play the guitar. Over time with physical therapy and guitar lessons to refine/remember how to play, he got back to 100%.

There you go.

um...No David Ellifson? wtf...he was always the one guy (besides dave) who you knew would still be there after a lineup change.

David Ellefson and Mustaine are having some personal/business conflicts. Not sure of all the reasons for Ellefson's actions, but he's suing Mustaine for 18.5 million dollars.

I think you can download the 38 page complaint off Blabbermouth. This isnt going to be good for either of them, whichever way it turns out.

There was also a big double post that Mustaine did on the Megadeth boards. It was basically a summary of all the things the interviews he'd done recently said. It started from what was happening after the success of Countdown to Extinction and works its way up to current. Explains some things, but of course, its only one side of the story.

I really wish David Ellefson would get back with Dave. I wish Marty Friedman would get back, too... but even if they're back together, the music wont be the same. I think Dave Mustaine has stayed true to the Rust in Peace / Countdown / Youthanasia era (somewhat), where as Marty has moved on, and so has David Ellefson(?).

But there really isnt any bass players out there like David Ellefson, and no guitarists out there like Marty. So whatever comes it, I'll have to be happy with a completely different sounding band.
