I had British Steel, but it was a digital copy. I wanted to own the CD itself. :)

And Acid, what did we tell you about drinking beer through your anus to get buzzed quicker? Just don't do it, man.

Just pre-ordered the new Jeff Loomis CD.

Jeff Loomis Plains of Oblivion.

Good call guy above me who also bought it. This CD rocks and I am digging the female vocalists voice on those two songs.

Recent pick-ups from Amazon. Some CDs have arrived and some are still on the way.

Image

Leprosy (1988), by Death

Image

Spiritual Healing (1990), by Death

Image

Human (1991), by Death

After reading about Chuck Schuldiner's bout with cancer and hearing stories about the genuine love for life that the man had, I wanted to throw in some money toward some Death CD sales--if any of the royalties go to the Schuldiner estate, it'll be that much better! On a musical level, I've stayed away from death metal in the past because the vocals are too harsh for my tastes. However, I've softened up to the style in recent years, and I'm ready to start collecting some death and grindcore albums. I've already got an Atheist album, and I'm looking to pick up a CD by Napalm Death or Possessed. Of course, I'll want to purchase at least two more Death albums; I like their 1980s thrash-death hybrid style, but I also admire the technical virtuosity of the 1990s albums, or Human and beyond. Guys, feel free to make recommendations!

Thrash Zone (1989), by D.R.I.

Facelift (1990), by Alice in Chains

Image

Bomber (1979), by Motorhead

Image

Original Album Series (2011), by Pantera. This is a five-disc set featuring Pantera's major label releases.

Tacked onto the same order was this little cord, which is my gateway into the exciting realm of music recording! If I had any business picking up a guitar, I'd probably invite myself to the next forum jam. ;) At the very least, I'll be recording riffs through my Peavey Vypyr; if anything that sounds cool happens to find its way out of my guitar, I'll be sure to post it!

The other 3 albums are all masterpieces, imo, so it's down to personal taste, I guess. Me, I loved The Sound of Perseverance so I'd go with that one.

I agree with Simmon here. The later era death albums are masterpieces.

I can't say the same about the first ones, as I don't really like what's been played. Also, the production and sound on those albums are horrible IMO. I'm sure they were meant to be that way, but I can't stand those guitar tones sound like angry bees all the time.

Obrigado, Simon e Matheus. ;) I've heard Schuldiner's rendition of "Painkiller." It wails! I'll eventually look into all of the 1990s albums. Perhaps I'll start with Perseverance.

Well, I started with Symbolic but Perseverance was the one that did it for me. Also, if you're into progressive music, you should definitely start with that one as it's their most forward-thinking album.

Very good record.

Top notch musicians playing with a pop singer...it has great chops, but, most of all, killer songs.

Checked it out.

Kicks ass.
Probably my favorite kind of soft rock n' roll.
