Post Re: Last CD/DVD you bought
I still have to make up my opinion about it.

It's definitely better than Prof Satchafunkilus.
It still suffers from the usual flaws in the latest albums:
-It doesn't rock socks of, instead it relaxes you and gives you feelings of nostalgia, calm, and other such feelings. (ie: it's not Surfing With The Alien, Ice 9, Circles, Back To Shalla-Bal, or other fast tempo song).
-Satch favors rock chords and mid to slow speed alternate picking licks over energetic shred your face off smooth legatos from hell that rock your socks off.
-99.9% of the music is accomplished with guitar/bass/drum and effects. There is no real exploration of exotic instruments and weird vibes like plane noises, harmonica leads, electric sitar, unusual percutions, electronic noises, and other mysteries or cocktails of fun sounds.
-No fast tempo.
-The background instruments do not do extraordinary rythmns and beats, so all the songs sound like long guitar jams and improvs of solos.

Conclusion: it's very far from being a rock your socks off masterpiece like The Extremist, Surfing With The Alien, Flying In A Blue Dream. It's still a solid effort, by any musical standard (ie: it's not a trainwreck, Satch can still play his guitar), and it's probably good to listen to when you don't feel like getting your ears pulverized and your face melted, but I don't think I'll listen to it a lot, once I'm done reviewing it.

PS: all that I have written so far is only my first impression after a couple listens without paying deep attention, I'll try to do better later.

Robin, looks like you're getting into some fine Rush albums! The catalog from 2112 to Signals is simply legendary.

I've been into Rush for about 5 years or so, but I only had the Rush in Rio DVD and the Moving Pictures album (and some MP3s on my computer).

When I went to their concert this year I realized they're one of my favorite bands, so I just checked Amazon and Rush album were like... 10 bucks each... so I got a few... :)

Great Rush albums, but please good god don't overlook Caress of Steel.

AMAZING FUCKING ALBUM.

Changed the way I listened to music. Plus, as any Racer X board member would want, some of Alex's greatest guitar work.

Get it!

GET IT NOW!!!

I'd read that Andy Timmons had played in the Andy Timmons Band before he ever played in Danger Danger.

I'd like to hear more of Andy Timmons's pre- and post- Danger Danger music.

The remastered edition thing.

I'm not sure if this counts, but I picked up this seven inch not too long ago

No camera, and lack of sleeve art on the internet means this is going to have to suffice.

Much better than Live at the Music City Hall IMO. The production of the previous one is much better, but the playing on Dio's last recorded gig was just outstanding... well, except for Vinne Apice. He sucks
