The Darkness...if you have a sense of humor in vocals

I really enjoy TSO. I've seen their XMas show the last two years. What a spectical.

Darkness is cool too. I got their CD for XMAS. You're right about the vocals. My neice can't stand them.

Thanks everyone for all the replies. I'm making a list of cd's to look out for, with Masterplan at the top of the list.

I'll have to find that cd. Dokken was my fav band in the 80's. I went to the Monsters of Rock concert here in Detroit just because they were playing.

none of which are related to this thread

Personally my three favourites would be:
The Beatles
David Bowie
Bjork
White Noise
Racer X
Jason Becker
Paul Gi-----ok so theres too many to chose from!
i would definitely have to agree with you....except i have never heard of the band white noise.

White Noise - An electric storm (1969) A group led by David Vorhous experimented with sounds and recording techniques available at the time to give the songs a subliminal emotional depth.

Bit wierd but their music's fucking awesome! :D

Lucky Bastard! :D

I just remember being pissed off as they got the worst slot of the bands playing and the sound was crap. Metallica went on before them. The rush to get onto main floor when Kingdom Come got done was amazing. For everyone that got caught, another 3-4 made it. Seemed like once Metallica got done, everyone could care less who was up next. Being at the back of the Pontiac Silverdome didn't help either.

you are kidding me you went to the monsters of rock show in 1988 too...........which show did you go to day 1 or day 2 ? the show i went to,while the scorpions were playing their encore, ted nugent got noticed in the crowd and everyone spazzed about him....him was behind were i was sitting to my left, probably in a box seat or suite seat......awesome show....i was fairly suprised by how good kingdom come was live(remember them..the supposed secretly re-formed led zeppelin) i took my brother to that show......totaly worth the 11 to 12 hours spent in the silverdome.

i do remember being a bit bored listening to dokken.....now that i think of it their sound was for shit................i think i took a nap during about half of the scorpions set....of course VH jammed....some of the stand-outs of the VH set to me were:cathedral(EVH solo) mike's solo was pretty cool ...of course alex's solo jammed...and i loved sammy's..eagles fly...love that song.......wow what a rant.....i could go on and on about that show......then there was the guy who was walking around obviously on drugs watching his hand outstretched in front of his face opening and closing.he was walking up and down the steps..until security finally escorted him away.....naked boobies everywhere......that familiar smell of a certain leafy substance burning............etc,etc....

I can't remember which show I went to. It sucked for me. I had a broken foot and was in a walking cast. i was like you, Kingdom Come was better than I expected. I also remember how everyone thought it was Led Zeppelin reborn.

At that time, I hadn't heard much of Metallica's music. I did enjoy their set. i think I went out and bought one of their cd's because of that show. I just couldn't believe the swell of people rushing main floor when their set was being put up. Definitely a lot of people there just to see them.

Scorpions and VH were awesome. I'm bummed, from my vantage point, didn't get to see the naked boobs. i was in the third row, upper bowl near the back corner. Now that I think more about the show, I remember the bathrooms getting cleaned out of toilet paper. I saw one guy with like a dozen in his arms. They were being flung back forth from upper to lower bowls.

I'm listening to Glorious Burden right now. Just got done with the main cd, now I've got Gettysburgh on. Damn! You guys were right. They fucking jam. Thanks! I'm going to have to get more of their cds.

I also got the Lynch/Pilson cd. Drove around and listened to most of it. That fucking rocks too! Again, thanks for suggesting it.

Yup. The Glorious Burden has Tim "Ripper' Owens on it....but all others...feature Matt Barlow on vocals.

As for other Iced Earth albums to check out....
Something Wicked Comes This Way
Horror Show
Alive in Athens(three-disk)

IMO, those, and Glorious Burden, are the three best albums. But NOTHING by Iced Earth is bad.

I just got Burnt Offerings and Iced Earth in the mail today.....my collection is complete.

I saw Monsters at the Collesium in L.A. As much as I love Van Halen, the Scorpions, and Dokken, they all got blown away by Metallica. It was clearly the changing of the guard ... Van Halen/Scorpions/Dokken had all seen better days and their time in the sun was over. Metallica were peaking and they destroyed every other band on that bill.

Yeah! I have it! I think I have about everything including the Vagabond stuff, Missa Mercuria, Beyond Twilight, Brazen Abbot and even a boot of when he sang for Yngwie. He has a new solo CD out in the next month or so.

btw your stuff sounds great! I like your singing style/voice and playing. Accessable prog and great melodies. Any instrumentals on your CD? I'm a huge fan of those.

ALL-if you haven't checked out SevenString's music do so...now! Click and listen.

One other recommendation is Arjen Anthony Lucassen's Star One CD. If you have any interest in songs with multiple singers, sci-fi or spce metal this is your life. F*CKIN AWESOME! but then it too will start you on the path of getting all his Ayreon stuff and then Damian Wilson etc... Russel Allen of Symphony X is on every tune and is incredible!!

Anybody have it? The live DVD is the loudest DVD I've ever played on my steroe/tv.

Darron, you might also like Demons and Wizards - it is Jon Schaeffer's band with Hansi Kursch of Blind Guardian on vocals.
He is supposed to have a new Demons and Wizards soon.
