If you mean what do people think of him, then I'd say he's pretty cool. He can shred up a storm and lay down timeless riffs, plus his acoustic stuff sounds nice too. Ain't heard a whole lot of his stuff but I'd say he's a pretty admirable player, and has a knack for making good songs. I'm sure there's more people could add about influence and yadda yadda yadda

I LOVE Randy Rhodes. He is the first person I heard that made me want to pick up a guitar.

All of his stuff with Ozzy...even his Quiet Riot stuff, is incredible. He knew what he was doing, that's for sure.

He had the greatest musicla sense. he knew ehen to put what solo where, and for how long he should go off. And his solos....my god. Just listen to Mr. Crowley, which is, IMO, one of the greatest solos ever recorded.

It s a DAMN shame what happened to him. So much talent, just taken away for no reason. From what I read, he was a good man, notdeep into drugs, drink, etc. Great guitarist, great person, great role-model.

Just like Van Halen, his soloing overshadows his incredible rhythm guitar. Anyone can practice and shred his ass off.....but very few talented ones could come up with the riffs on ''Unchained' or 'Crazy Train'

Rhodes was my first guitar hero!! and still one of my favs ever. He was the first to open my eyes to classical music and he was the greeter at the gateway of shred for me. Randy was one of the best in my eyes.

You guys ARE aware the guy's dead, right??? Some of you are talking like he's still around. He CAN shred up a storm? Shit...that's huge if you're dead.

Haven't heard much of his stuff. Of what I did hear, his rhythm definitely stuck out more to me than his soloing. Unlike most players, personally I was never really unfluenced or inspired by Randy, but I understand how he was such an influence.

Same same as some others on this board,
Randy is THE reason I picked up guitar...Name another guitar player who had realistically just 2 albums out (I know I know--QR doesn't count in my book) that managed to build a name like his...

The guy just used to shred and had a great tone...Loved his solo style, really loved his rythm stuff...I'm STILL learning some licks off of Diary...

Put it this way...If Randy isn't one of your influences, then you haven't heard him play much, or enough...

Wish that cat was still around...No offense to Zakk, but imagine how bad ass Oz man would have been by now with 10 or 11 discs out with Randy playing on them...

A cool thought, but it would never have happened. Randy probably would have left Ozzy's band long before now (rumor has it he was unhappy with the band and all the on-stage theatrics and was seriously considering quiting the band at the time of his death).
