I'd heard of his battle with pancreatic cancer a few months back, but I'm still in disbelief. I've been tearing up, barely able to see since reading this. Jon was a king. NOBODY has made a Hammond B3 roar like Jon. PERIOD. His playing in Purple is UNPARALLELED.

He will be so much more than missed.

Yes, and who will be the equivalent to those idols when we turn 70 ourseleves?

There are still a lot of rock dinossaurs out there, but a few real legends have passed away recently, like Michael Jackson (not a rock guy, but still), George Harrison, Dio and now Jon Lord.

I can't imagine how it will be the day when guys like Jimmy Page or BB King pass away.

I'm very sad to hear the news.

He kicked ass and he was one of the few keyboardists that could make their instrument sound awesome in a Hard rock or Metal context.

Farewell Jon Lord.

I upgraded to CD on Deep Purple's Machine Head yesterday, then came home to hear about THIS.

Is it just me, or are all the GOOD musicians dying lately?

I'm baaaack! To the noobs....I am *not* Jeff Martin. haha

I was in Nashville the day Jon passed away. The next day, I was at the airport there, and I ran into Ian Paice. He was on his way to London because of Jon's passing. He seemed a bit down, but was very gracious to me.

Hey Jeff... Welcome back!

That was quite a coincidence... And I bet Ian was down, or sure!
