 Th1rt3en - Megadeth
Anyone checked it out ?
I'm listening to the first five tracks on Deezer.com. Will update with my thoughts later.

 Re: Th1rt3en - Megadeth
I can't give it a solid review since I've only heard a couple of songs, but so far I kind of like Endgame better. That's just me, though.

 Re: Th1rt3en - Megadeth
Well, I've gotta hear it again too.
But I think Th1rt3en is easier to listen to. Endgame had tons of sudden rythmn changes and riff changes that kinda felt like two different songs had been put together... which made the album an acquired taste for me, I didn't really like it straight away.
Th1rt3en's songs' structures are probably more conventional, to my ears anyway. I like it so far, I'll probably buy it at a record store to listen to it more carefully.

I've only listened to a couple of songs, and I didn't see anything special about this one. I mean, Endgame was good, because it was really the first GOOD album Megadeth put in years, but this one only seem to have more conventional songs. Oh, I'll be at their concert tomorrow night!

I think it's quite good, I like it better than Endgame. Black Swan, Wrecker, Public Enemy No.1 and Sudden Death are pretty cool songs.

 Re: Th1rt3en - Megadeth
This album SUCKS.
Everyone know I´m a huge "Mega fan", and was looking forward to this album, but my disappointment is epic.
It is a collection of b-sides and demos which were never released on official albums before...some songs even date back to the RIP time (Millenium of the blind) and others to CTE (new world order).
It does sound cool, and Broderick rips the shit out of his guitar, but as an album it just seems to be a mix of ideas which do not go well together, and it also includes the WORST lyrics Mustaine has penned in years.
It is deemed to gather dust in my room, listening to it was just TORTURE.
My thoughts.

Haha I can see where you're coming from but I think you're over exaggerating a little, I wouldn't say listening to it was "torture". I've only listened to it once during my Econ lecture at uni (admittedly not the best environment to listen, but it got more of my attention than the lecturer), but I'd say it was average. I mean, it's obviously got nothing on the Friedman era, but it's still better than any of the recent Metallica albums so you gotta give em credit for that. There's some pretty cool riffs in there too.

 Re: Th1rt3en - Megadeth
For a Megadeth album to have "decent riffs" is the minimum you can ask for them. It is like asking for an AC/DC album to have "groove" or a Gilbert record to have "great guitar solos". If they don´t comply with that, then we´re really f*cked.
I had tons of faith for this album, and I bought it and listened it with the home theater and everything else to give myself a superb time listening to one of my top 5 bands of all time...but when the 3rd song started I was already bored and waiting for the album to end. When I got to the 13th song and it ended I was relieved...
But well, it is just my opinion about it. I´m too old to justify my fav bands for putting out albums just to "comply with the record deal". For me, it would be better than they called it quits.

 Re: Th1rt3en - Megadeth
Well, I gotta say after a few listens, that album is definitely a bit bland. Nothing really special about it, it's good heavy metal, but it doesn't rock my socks off.
I wouldn't be so hard on that album though, unlike Gus.
I prefer hearing Megadeth release something like that after Endgame over hearing Metallica's stint with Lou Reed. Although I'll say it again : I respect Metallica for exploring more avant-garde stuff.

 Re: Th1rt3en - Megadeth
I saw Megadeth last night, and their concert was GREAT. I mean, it was really really awesome! But they played 2 of the new songs and, really, they were horrible.
