 I just had to rant...
I was playing my cassette copy of Ozzy Osbourne's The Ultimate Sin and it BROKE!!
Well, now I have an excuse to go look for a CD copy.
I've heard that it isn't currently in print on CD (or anything else), but hopefully I can find a used CD copy.
This is one of my favorite Ozzy albums, and this just irritates me to no end.

You can find "The Ultimate Sin" almost anywhere on CD... I see it all the time at Best Buy, AND it's remastered with a couple of bonus tracks...

Sorry to hear about your broken cassette. That sucks!
Happened to me with Queensryche's 1st release. Tried to wind it by hand, glue it, & all that stuff!
I was gonna say that it would be surprising to me if you couldn't find that release on c.d.
I found "No rest for the wicked" like Xela was describing, remastered, at....Best Buy, I think it was.
I hope you find it. Shouldn't be too hard.

I don't trust that cassette player now.
Another cassette player I have broke several tapes. After that, I taped it shut (with the sticky kind of tape) and I haven't used it in years. I'm thinking about doing the same to this one, too.
I'm slowing getting CD copies of all the albums I have on cassette and putting the cassette copies in my car, to listen to on the road.
I haven't bought a cassette in years, and this is a prime example of why.
Of course, they're getting harder and harder to find, too, even used.
Besides, CD's are infinitely superior to cassettes. I haven't had a CD break on me yet.

The main reason I'm still listening to tapes is because I have things on tape I don't have on CD yet.
But, a bunch of my tapes are wearing out, so it's time to upgrade to CD for them...
The upgrading to CD is slow. The reason: $.

I agree!
I have loads of historical stuff in my tapes (radio shows, interviews, etc), but as I started my music collection back on 1995, that was already "CD times", so I´ve always purchased CDs.
I just copied the cassettes

If you have a computer, with relatively cheap software you can hook up your cassette player, copy everything to your hard drive, and even e.q. the recording, clean up the tape hiss, etc. Then you can burn it all to CD, flash drive, iPod, etc.

This is what i do for a living. No joke.
If you have the patience, cassettes are pretty easy to fix and or rehouse the tape. If you machines are chewing tapes tho it sounds like time to get a a better tape machine and start dumping them off to CD. Id say if you look on ebay you would most likey find a fare few more profesional units for very cheap, being that nobody is transfering to or from cassette these days (apart from churches in southern USA according to my boss).
If you want to restore any audio, cassette, reel to reel tapes, vinyl, whatever, i use a program called "Diamond Cut Live". Its very effective at cleaning poor audio and easy to make sound good if you dont use the filters too hard.

Re: I just had to rant...
Update on this one:
I got various used cassettes at pawn shops and flea markets years ago. They are now wearing out one by one. This is another one to file under "It seemed like a good idea at the time.".
