Post Guthrie Govan Audio Files from Recent Clinic Tour
Here are some great audio files from a gig during a recent clinic tour I went on with Guthrie after NAMM. There are some great tones here and superb playing as usual from the incomparable Guthman. Guthrie's gear here is his Suhr Signature Set-Neck Modern model through the Suhr Badger 30w head and a pair of Suhr 1x12 cabinets loaded with Celestion V30 and Celestion Heritage G12-65 speakers. The only effects used here are: Eventide Time Factor delay pedal in the effects loop, Suhr Koko Boost to push the amp into saturation for the high-gain solo parts, Guyatone WR3 auto-wah, Dunlop Cry-Baby Jerry Cantrell Signature Wah that the Dunlop people loaned for this gig, and a Providence Anadime analog chorus pedal.

Guthrie met these musicians for the gig for the first time in the afternoon and did about an hour of rehearsal and then went straight into the gig after the product clinic, so as Guthrie says, don't expect anything that's "over-rehearsed" but this is pretty good stuff. The outro solo that starts at around 6:20 of the first track 'Sevens' is pretty amazing. It's the ideal mix of tone, feel, phrasing, creativity, and mind-boggling technique in one 2-minutes-or-so solo. Enjoy!

My pleasure. Guthrie will soon be getting his new Signature Antique Modern, a Badger 30 head and a pair of 1x12 cabs like those used in this recording. I'm sure he'll give them a tryout at the Bassment next week. The new Antique Modern is awesome.

The tracks were 'Fives' and 'Waves' and they were good but not quite as good as these. I think this is enough.

Yeah, well we all know what Guthrie is like about bootlegs, so this is great!

I was there the night the fellowship recorded a new CD and video... I have NEVER seen Guthrie play that well, he was on FIRE!!!! But he rejected it :(

Well, he wasn't quite thrilled about the overall performance of this gig but he did like the sounds and the quality of the recording very much. It was really good considering that Guthrie met the other musicians for the first time hours before the gig. These were fine musicians but they had limited time to learn the tunes and rehearse.

I saw him playing at Melva┬┤s in San Pedro, CA on Jan 17. Amazing amazing amazing show, what a killer player he is!

And after we went to see Steel Panther at the HOB in LA.

Talk about a ROCK N ROLL week in the US!
