Post Shawn Lane - The Tri-Tone Fascination
I've always been a super big fan of Shawn Lane and his playing, Powers of Ten is probably one of my favorite CD's of all time. I recently got The Tri-Tone Fascination, it's pretty different but it's growing on me. There are some great songs on here, Shawn's playing is phenomenal, the songs seem much more the result of jamming as opposed to thought out compositions. Anyone else have this album and what are your thoughts on it?

Tri-Tone wasn't supposed to be the follow-up to PoT (haha). it was actually Aural Agonist, which was never released.

The tape he pulled out contained music from the
album 'Aural Agonist'. This album was supposed to be his 2nd Warner
Brothers Release. The album will be a lot of classical pieces he
said. It's arlready completed and needs to be released. I pray he
does this soon.
The piece he played was a companion piece to his Piano
Concertino "It's inspired by a lot of Poulenc" he said, and he feels
it's a much more mature composition than the Concertino in its
instrumentation and use of counterpoint in the different instruments.
The music was incredibly beautiful with that 'otherwolrdly' Lane-
esque sound that only he can seem to create. He was conducting hands
in the air totally absorbed with his creation, fingers playing piano
on air while telling me about the key changes and to listen to how
the clarinet overtakes the oboe in the counterpoint etc. I was
completely in awe and I wish I could have listened to the whole
thing.

Here is a video of Shawn talking about why it was rejected:

Then what happened to the Companion piece to Piano Concertino? Why was it not included? Or was it one of the tracks dropped from the re-release?

The album changed alot over the years, the family still have over 100 tracks of his that will never see the light of day. Shawn was on Warner, but who was tri-tone released by? Eye Rekon records, because Warner wouldn't put it out

there are whole albums like the film music scores that will NEVER come out, and those of us who have any of them will respect the families wishes

Care to elaborate on the bolded parts? I'm really curious about the tracks, that's all.
