Post What's up with the whole "Paul is dead" thing? Attn. keith!
A while back, someone, (maybe keith?) posted a thread about this, & I couldn't find it with the search.
Anyway, I just found this on the internet & wondered if anyone had any stories as to whether this kind of thing was credible in any way?
I've had my doubts, but I'm willing to listen to any new credible evidence.

So now they have some movie about it?

Yeah... that makes sense

they replaced Paul so the fans wouldnt think he was dead and top themselves...

and to silence John... they killed him?

how does that work out hahaha

From what I understand about this rumor is that it was started by a notable DJ, who I can unfortunately no longer remember the name of. The idea is that a Canadian (again, who's name I can't remember, sorry) who won a Paul McCartney look a like contest and was awarded with the right of being his stand in for photo shoots and the such. The rumor goes that shortly after this, the original Paul dies in a car accident and the look a like is thrusted into being Paul McCartney to prevent any misfortune that the death of Paul wouldn've brought about. There's a lot of evidence cited in an attempt to justify this rumor, such as the badge Paul is wearing on the inside pictures of Srgt Peppers saying OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) and supposed clues such as the license plates on Abbey road having Paul's age that he would've been at the time of time of the release of the album were he not dead.

Personally, I think they should've let all the 'fans' commit suicide. You know, thin out the 'stupid' gene pool.

it wasn't I. but i did start a thread about paul mccartney making mashed potatoes ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyyEc-GNDfQ )

Here's the story about what "happend" (from wiki):

The ‘clues’ were used to suggest the story for how McCartney had supposedly died: three years previously, on 9 November 1966, McCartney, while working on the Sgt. Pepper album, stormed out of a recording session after an argument with his fellow band-members and drove off in his car which he subsequently crashed, and died.[8] The story was pieced together from the lyrics of multiple Beatles songs:
"He didn't notice that the lights had changed" ("A Day in the Life"), he crashed into a lamp-post (a car crash sound is heard in "Revolution 9") and was pronounced dead on a "Wednesday morning at 5 o'clock as the day begins" ("She's Leaving Home"). News of the tragedy was withheld: "Wednesday morning papers didn't come" ("Lady Madonna") and a funeral was held (inferred from the Abbey Road album cover).[citation needed]

According to the story, McCartney's place in The Beatles (as well as his private and social life) had then been taken by ‘William Shears Campbell’ (or someone with a name similar to the "Billy Shears" character in the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album), who had won a McCartney look-alike contest.

there's also "clues" in songs that paul's dead:

-John had put a little backwards dialogue at the end of I'm So Tired. When played backwards you might hear 'Paul is a dead man. Miss him, miss him.' If played regularly just sounds like gibberish.

-At the end of Strawberry Fields Forever, there's a part where John says 'cranberry sauce' and it sounds like 'I buried Paul'.

there are others but i can't think of them right now

Thanks for the post, keef!
You seem to know much more about this strange conspiracy than anyone else I've talked to.

What's your take on the whole thing, if you don't mind my asking?

Interesting topic...

More amazing that the "impostor" has still being around for 40 years since The Beatles are ended and have the creativity to craft musical genius every time.

Everybody deserves a little fun though, such as this

Turn me on, dead man.

Turn me on, dead man.

Turn me on, dead man.

Turn me on, dead man.

Turn me on, dead man.

Turn me on, dead man.

Turn me on, dead man.

Repeat these words one hundred times in front of a mirror in a dark room and you will see Paul's ghastly apparition. :P

Next thing I knew Biggie was standing in my bedroom complaining about how he couldn't get to some big party.

If I were to repeat "Knockers" over and over, would I successfully summon tits?
