Post Got my peaces with DT
You all know I´ve always hated Dream Theater´s live performances, based on how boring I find their DVDs and how I literally took a nap on the first show I saw of them.

But yesterday they played here, and I got a blast. First of all, they played in a closed venue, not an open-air one, and it is much better for a band like Dream.

The set list was shorter (1 h 50m), which was cool, since it was "no talking, just rocking" performance.

Also, I love their last album, so it was cool to see them play many tracks off of it.

Would´ve loved some tunes from Images or Awake, but they didn´t played any...

So, "live DT" and I have become friends again, lol

I think I read a comment you made about how DT sucked live a long time ago... happy to know you like them now! =)

Personally though, I even find DT boring on record. The reason for that is that I don't like progressive or post 80's metal too much (although Dream Theatre technically began in the 80's, they sound like a 90's bands such as Symphony X).

I liked songs like Glass Prison though... but I can't say I've liked an entire DT album so far...

I like some DT, but not most of it. I loved the A Change of Seasons EP.

I have great respect for all of the members skills as musicians, but for some reason never liked most of their songs. I still would love to see them live though. There are some bands that are way better live than their recordings.

Yeah! Their latest album kicks so much ass!

I'm seeing them on this Friday, and I'm happy to know they put out a good concert there.

I went to the show yesterday.

It was good, but the setlist could've been better. I'll post it later.

PLUS there were so many kids (14-15 year old) in the crowd, it was annoying.

oh yeah, Jordan Rudess rocks.

This was the setlist:

1 - A Nightmare To Remember
2 - A Rite of Passage
3 - Keyboard Solo/Guitar solo
4 - Hollow Years
5 - Keyboard Solo
6 - Prophets of War
7- Wither
8 - Dance of Eternity
9 - One Last Time
10- Spirit Carries on
11 - Pull Me Tropolis
12 - Count of tuscany

So, in between there, there was a petrucci/rudess guitar/keytar solo, which was really cool.

The songs from Scenes From a Memory totally rocked!

Strange, here they did the SAME set list, instead of "Pull me tropolis" they did "In the name of god"...

Metropolis Pt.2 Scenes From A Memory is possibly one of the greatest albums I've ever heard!
Unfortunatley I couldnt see them live when they last came to the U.K :(
