Children of Bodom. Say what you will about the band, Alexi is one hell of a guitarist!!

Funny, my thoughts have always been; Say what you will about Alexi, CoB are one hell of a band!

Listen to Straight Outta Compton by N.W.A., those guys were out to kill someone!

Also, Machine Head, Cannibal Corpse, Carcass (especially Heartwork). I haven't listened to metal in ages, mainly psychedelic and hiphop, so I'll memorate some more when I get home. :) Also, if you're angry like you wanna punch someone, check out real hardcore, crust-punk etc. These guys should be mental enough for anyone. :)

Veil of Maya. I think if you like really heavy bands with screaming, you'll like these guys. Their guitar players are bombastic/compose in interesting ways and have really interesting rhythms. Heavy as all hell.

Check out the breakdown at about 50 seconds. It's too brutal.

Bean, cheers for the recommendation on Veil of Maya - I checked them out shortly after seeing your post and I haven't been able to stop playing "It's not safe to swim today"..... the guitar is really quite good and the drumming is EPIC!

That's what I'm fucking talking about. :D . Also Check out Circles of Contempt if you like this stuff. The song "Nothing Imminent" is bomb.

If you want something more shreddy, check out Animals as Leaders.

And check out Periphery as well.

They're all very similar, but very different at the same time. All great up and coming bands that just got signed. It's the new generation of metal.

Check out Pantera's 4 out of print 80's albums. Some of the music on them is kind of angry, though not as much so as their in print major label albums.

I beg to differ mate. Well, they are angry, especially the lyrics, but there's not any aggression in their sound until Power Metal, and when you compare Power Metal to their 90's albums it don't really stand a chance. Cool albums though! :)

Missed this thread. By far my favorite "angry" song would have to be "Good Mourning/Black Friday" by Megadeth, from the Peace Sells album. The lyrics explain it all: "A merciless butcher who lives underground. I'm off to destroy and I will cut you down!"

I wouldn't say there isn't ANY aggression in their sound... but they certainly don't compare to their major label albums.
