Wow... just can't stop talking about or listening to this disc... I'd been listening to "The Best Of Times" both with and without the vocal tracks and had come to the conclusion that it is hands down the best "ballad" DT's ever written (IMO), its such a moving and emotional piece of music and I didn't have a clue what the song was about until I just read the liner notes and it all makes sense now... :( I challenge anyone to listen to this tune (after reading the liner notes on what it's about) and not be moved by it emotionally...
Wow :O thats heavy lyrics, i guess that she died? i could relate it to breaking up to

It's about Mike's dad who passed away not so long ago.

Youtube has been very good for Dream Theater. I'm glad that a lot of the new generation is into blazing guitar solos.

Disc 3: the new disc with no vocals or solos

The new disc is a work of art. And has Petrucci's best solos (even better than TOT, Levi!). I can't stop listening to it and I can't begin to understand how a band can so consistently put out such unparalleled material. And the fact that they're 6th on the billboard charts is just unbelievable. And I just got to see them 4 times last month. They are on TOP form live. Petrucci is GOD!!!!!

I must say that's really amazing for an album I don't give a shit about.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still extremely happy DT are successful, they totally deserve it... I just feel weird because it feels like I'm the only one here contradicting everyone and saying that album doesn't really matter.

Perhaps I'm oblivious to the genius of DT :?

This is another one I won't be getting. I can certainly appreciate them all as musicians, but their music has ADD. To me, it's so unfocused and just gets off-track with all the extended jams and soloing. Now, they are delving into the Cookie Monster vocals?? Ugh. Bring back the Falling Into Infinity era!

Some songs were great and some really left me flat. I liked bits but thats it. I guess I'm kinda over them. I have really been loving symhpony x way more in the past year or so.
