Here's something for us to agree with / argue about / crack on...

I didn't look this up with a name search, I just found it while checking music news this morning. So I had faith, and was not disappointed. :)

... btw that is a tiny radio show. If this was KNAC publishing the list I'd think it would have a lot more cred.

WHERE IN THE HELL IS ROBERT FRIPP?!

Not a very cool list, if you ask me. Among other things, i think Paul Gilbert is one of the most complete guitar players i've ever heard so i guess he should be way higher in that list.

Here's a way better list (IMO!):

Why is it, to get responses, sometimes I have to put up contradictory or inflammatory opinions, just to get people talking?

Eric Clapton underneath Angus Young?!
Well, maybe all the graders were like 14 or something. Maybe they've only heard like 2 Cream songs on the radio. Maybe they've never even heard of Robert Fripp and they think PG's work is all Scarified. *shrug*

That list is the most hilarious to come forth lately

It's one thing to do a "best guitarist" list with these results, because the poll would then give the results of popular opinion, but a "most complete" list with the most famous people on top, that are known for playing in one genre is stupid.

Kirk Hammett is on the list and Allan Holdsworth and Guthrie Govan are nowhere to be seen?

Let's shake this up a bit. So many magazines and bloggers feel the need to create "Top 100" guitar player lists--so we should make a list of the "Top 100" most awful, shitty "top guitar player" lists.

The best shitty guitar player in thew whole world is Jeff Haneman(correct spelling?), from Slayer. I mean, he's got awesome riffs and all, but his solos are all horrible in note choice/technique

Well, like Skippy said, it's all about influence on music industry, sales, entrepreneurship, musicianship, technicality, and longevity.

The top guitarists on that list definitely have every one of those things. I think you guys are focusing too much on technical ability.

I mean, I agree that while I don't like every single list to kiss Page's ass, I also agree that grading by everything I said above, that this list would be pretty accurate.

I agree, I think most people focus too much on technical ability. This is more of a "most influential/successful musician who happens to be a guitarist" list ,I think.
