Post Yngwie J. Malmsteen: UK Tour 2008!!!!
Anyone from the board going???

I've always wanted to see Yngwie live ever since I started going to gigs and now I've just checked his site and the dates are up.

U.K. Concert Dates:

7th July - Oxford Carling Academy
8th July - Bristol Carling Academy
9th July - Glasgow Carling Academy
10th July - Birmingham Carling Academy
11th July - London Shepherds Bush Empire
12th July - Manchester, Manchester Academy 2
13th July - Sheffield Carling Academy
14th July - Newcastle Carling Academy

8 days without a day off is pretty hardcore!!

LINEUP:

Yngwie - all guitars
Tim "Ripper" Owens - vocals
Bjorn Englen - bass
Patrik Johansson - drums
Michael Troy - keyboards

I think I'll book tickets, as long as I'm not on holiday during that week.

Well, protect your ears man. I've never been to an yngwie concert, but I saw youtube videos, I own a few live recordings of him, and on nearly every of them, at the end of the concert he goes crazy and puts his guitar in complete overdrive and lets the feed back go crazy and create a loud high pitched, ear piercing noise...

but anyway, HAVE FUN! it'll probably rock. Yngwie is cool, and so is Ripper. I also like the drummer Johansson.

A cool line up you have there.

The one and only time I saw him was on the G3 tour. He was so bad, it was embarrasing. His band was mediocre. He must have weighed 250+ and had an open shirt! :? His own set was bad enough, but during the jam, who the hell wants to hear neo-classical soloing over ZZ Top and Hendrix tunes??? He's too one-dimensional for my tastes.

I really like a lot of what Yng does/did.

I saw him live once, at Frankfurt Musikmesse. His band had no real singer at the time, so he sang a bit and the bassist sang a bit and they played lots of instrumental stuff. The whole performance was beset by technical problems – loads of unwanted noise coming out of his stack. That really spoilt the mood, as we had to wait over an hour for him to come on to play for a much shorter time than billed. Still, the scramble for guitar picks was the most intense mosh-pit action I've ever seen.

I agree with one thing... yngwie's equipment really pulls out all kinds of crappy noises... I reckon he really needs to isolate everything proprely.
