Post Chickenfoot
Launch Radio Networks reports: Sammy Hagar won't be on the road much this year, besides a few gigs with his group the WABORITAS and his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of VAN HALEN. But that's not to say that he doesn't have plans to make new music. Hagar has been performing recently at his Cabo Wabo Cantina in Mexico with former VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith, and he told Launch the three of them might hit the studio together. "We're thinking about, when the CHILI PEPPERS tour is over, about doing a little record," he said. "Not a permanent thing, but we've been calling ourselves CHICKEN FOOT down here, you know? A power trio. And it's so much fun playing in a power trio, you know? I haven't done it in a long time, playing all the guitar, and, and Mike and I singing together. It's pretty strong, man, it's a pretty exciting band. So we're thinking about going in the studio, and maybe making a record."

Chickenfoot is now a foursome adding some dude named Joe on guitar...

Sammy Hagar to hit studio with guitar hero Joe Satriani and ex-Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony plus Red Hot Chilli Peppers drummer Chad Smith - The group, code-named Chickenfoot, will enter the recording studio just before Labour Day.

EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT!

This is insane! Although I don't like the name.. sounds like a cross between Buckethead and Bumblefoot.

What's next? Second guitar added.. Pablo Gil-something

I read an interview, and Sammy said that chickenfoot have around 9 songs so far and that people who hear it say it sounds like Led Zep.
He then goes on to say that they will rival Led zep... Big words!

I just don't 'get' Satriani. Sure his old stuff was memorable but his new stuff I think is really dull and I don't think he's technically that profficient either. Just my view.

Now if only the'd have got Lynch or Bettencourt..........

I do confess to being a big Satch fan, Super Colossal was a really really great album. I can def understand why some people dont like his music as much thought.. I just find it very powerful :)

It's hard for me to see Joe as a guitarist in a regular band. I hope it works.

Let’s face it Sammy has been the weakest link in almost every project/band that he has been a part of (with the exception of his solo career of course). So when I heard about this project a while back my feeling was (and still is) “curious, but not excited in the least”. It goes without saying that I won’t be getting my hopes up about this project. Of course it will be interesting to see what Joe adds. But I could do without Sammy comparing this band to Led Zeppelin. Ugh…whatever! I just hate that. You know whenever bands make claims like that, they never deliver!!! Honestly the only thing this project will have in common with Zeppelin is that the lead singer will have blonde curly hair…..THAT’S IT! Maybe Sammy needs to go have another shot of some of his Cabo Wabo Tequila and return to the drunken fantasy world where he is Robert Plant’s equal.

Oh and I hope Joe has fun learning all those horrid Van Hagar tunes that you know Sammy and Mike are going to insist that they are to play live. Too bad they probably won't return the favor and let Joe play some "Satch Boogie" or "Surfin With The Alien" :(

Well, Sammy Hagar has covered Led Zeppelin's "Rock And Roll" in concert, at least once with Van Halen (probably many times) and at least once guesting with Journey in concert.
